About me

Hi there! I’m Molly Harrington, a 42-year-old dessert devotee living in Asheville, North Carolina, where the mountain air seems to carry the scent of vanilla and cinnamon every time I open my kitchen window. I’ve been baking since I was tall enough to reach the counter with a step stool, which usually meant standing on a phone book or two in my grandma’s cozy Ohio kitchen.

My journey into the sweet side of the culinary world wasn’t exactly planned. I started off studying art history, believe it or not, and while I loved getting lost in brushstrokes and sculpture, I found my true creative outlet in the folds of buttery croissants and the shine of perfectly tempered chocolate. There’s something so satisfying about blending science with a little magic and a lot of patience. Desserts aren’t just about sugar—they’re stories, memories, sometimes even therapy wrapped in flaky pastry or silky custard.

After college, I worked in a few cafes, doing everything from brewing espresso to eventually managing the pastry section. I learned from some wildly talented bakers—some with formal training, some with recipes passed down through generations—and I soaked up every lesson. Over the years, I’ve built up a repertoire of recipes that feel like old friends. Some are classics with a twist, like my bourbon-maple pecan pie, and others are just plain fun, like cereal milk panna cotta or miso-salted caramel brownies.

What I love most, though, is sharing these recipes with other home cooks. I know what it’s like to feel nervous cracking your first egg over a mixing bowl or worrying that your cake won’t rise. Trust me, I’ve burned more than a few batches and dropped a cheesecake or two—once right in front of dinner guests! But every flop taught me something, and every success reminded me why I fell in love with baking in the first place.

These days, my kitchen is both my sanctuary and my playground. I keep it stocked with good butter, better chocolate, and a drawer full of mismatched measuring spoons that somehow always do the trick. I believe anyone can become a great dessert maker with a bit of curiosity, a pinch of patience, and the willingness to embrace the occasional mess.
